David Starr No. 05 Cash America - WRL General Contractors Chevrolet Impala SS Preview: Texas Motor Speedway

Ft. Worth, Tex. (November 3, 2010) — Ask David Starr any week of the year which track is his favorite, and he'll likely tell you that it's which ever one is next on his schedule. Ask him that same question this week and you'll get the same answer – whichever one is next on the schedule – but you'll notice there is an extra sparkle in his eyes and an even bigger grin on his face. Starr is Texas born and bred, and any time he has a chance to strap in and race at Texas Motor Speedway, his home track, Starr steps up his game.

What's it like for you to come to Texas Motor Speedway and race, even after doing it for all these years? "It's still amazing to me that I get to race here. I love racing everywhere I can but racing at Texas Motor Speedway is still one of the biggest thrills I've had in my career. Every time I come over the hill and see this place off in the distance it gets me excited. I live close to the track, I have an office at the track, and my family runs a driving school at the track. Our sponsors, Cash America and WRL are from Texas and there will be a lot of people with them here with us too. It seems like just about everything I've done in my career has led me back to this place. It's even more special this year because it's one of the few races my wife and new son David, Jr. will be there with me."

Is there a lot of pressure racing at home? "Racecar drivers always put a lot of pressure on themselves to perform no matter where they're racing. It's no different for us this weekend. We always want to run up front and race for the win whether we're racing at home or all the way across the country. We're a small team and we're racing against teams that have access to a lot more information and technology than we're able to have but we're working just as hard as they are to get our car as good as we can get it. The neat thing about it is we're actually able to try some things with our strategy that some of the other teams can't because we don't have anything to lose in the points. We'll need some luck and some things to go our way but I know the Day Enterprises team is going to give it everything they have."

What's they key to a fast lap around Texas Motor Speedway? "It's just like all of the other mile and a half tracks, you have to keep your momentum up all the way around. You need a good handling car that gets you through the corners without having to come off the throttle. If you do have to roll off the gas you want to be able to get back in the throttle as quick as you can. You need a lot of horsepower to get you down the straightaways. You don't have a lot of drafting effect at Texas like you do at Talladega, so you want a car that still has downforce even in traffic. You really need all aspects of your program to be working one hundred percent at Texas."

Cash America and WRL General Contractors on board with Starr at Texas: Ft. Worth, Tex.-based Cash America, Inc. and Flint, Tex based WRL General Contractors will sponsor David Starr in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. "I've worked with the Cash America and WRL people for quite some time and it's really exciting for me to be racing in front of our home crowd with them supporting our Day Enterprises team," Starr said. "We're looking forward to seeing everyone at the track on Friday and Saturday and putting on a good show for them this weekend."
